White label n8n for clients: the three options that actually exist
28 August 2026 · 7 min read
'White label n8n' gets searched by agencies who've hit the same wall: automations run fine, but every client sees n8n's name in the URL bar and the branding, and eventually a client asks why they're paying an agency fee to look at someone else's software. There are three real routes out of that, not one, and they cost very different amounts.
Option 1 — n8n's own embed licence
The licensed, no-argument-later route. n8n's Sustainable Use Licence covers internal business use for free; the moment the software is what you're selling — hosting it for clients, putting your name on it — you're outside that licence and into commercial terms. n8n's embed licensing for white-label platforms starts in the high hundreds of dollars per month and scales from there. The nearest documented self-host figure is n8n Business at €667/mo, and even that buys six projects, not client accounts or client-facing branding — it's a licence to run n8n legally at scale, not a white-label product on its own.
Correct answer if you're building a genuine platform business on n8n. Expensive relative to what most agencies bill per client before they're past ten clients.
Option 2 — client-owned instances
The client signs up for and pays for their own n8n account; you build and maintain inside it. This sidesteps the licence question entirely, because the client is using the software for their own internal business — exactly what the licence permits — and you're doing the work inside their account. No white-label claim needed, because no white-label claim is being made.
The cost isn't cash, it's structure. Every client is a separate login you don't own, a separate billing relationship, a separate place their credentials live. You lose the one-screen view across all your clients right when you need it most — and if a client asks 'can you make this look like ours,' the honest answer inside this pattern is no, it already is theirs.
Option 3 — a platform priced for it
Several products now sell isolation and branding as a package instead of you assembling it yourself. TaskJuice ships white-label branding, a custom domain, white-label emails, a client portal, and client billing at its lowest tier — $79/mo. Activepieces' Team tier ($166/mo) gives isolated client projects but not white-label; its Ultimate tier adds branding at custom pricing; full white-label on Activepieces only arrives at Embed, from $36,000/yr.
The spread between those numbers is the real finding: white-label-included platforms exist from $79/mo, but white-label bolted onto the automation engine you already run jumps to $36,000/yr the moment you need it inside n8n or Activepieces' own infrastructure. That gap is why purpose-built control-plane products exist.
Where Tenvik fits
Disclosure: we're building Tenvik as a control-plane platform in this third category, so take the following as an interested party's numbers, not a neutral recommendation — the pricing above is checkable on each vendor's own page.
Tenvik includes white-label from the first tier — $39/mo for up to three client docks, with the domain, portal and credential vault included, plus unlimited executions, since the automation runs on infrastructure you connect rather than ours, so there's no compute meter to manage around. $99/mo for up to ten docks adds client billing; template propagation ships on every tier, so a fix made once reaches every client instance instead of being redone by hand on each.
How to choose
Ask what the client is actually buying. If it's an outcome — a report, a lead pipeline, a task done — and you'd deliver it with any tool, client-owned instances are the simplest honest answer and cost nothing extra. If you're selling a branded platform and calling it your product, you need a licence or a platform that says you can do that, and the choice below $36,000/yr is a control-plane product priced per client rather than per credit or per seat.
